A Studio Couch, model 355, designed in 1956 by L.R. Ercolani FRSA, and first produced in 1956 by Walter Skull & Son (1932) Ltd, Associate of Furniture Industries Ltd, High Wycombe. Comprising a beech, elm, or similar hardwood frame, patented suspension, Pirelli reinforced rubber webbing, and mattress by Vitafoam. The frame may be in the natural colour, or an ‘Old Colonial’ dark finish. The backboard can be removed to convert it into a single bed. In May 1958, the price was £54. 12s. 0d with standard colours, £57. 11. 0d with ‘L’ range covers, and ‘£59 17s 6d with ‘XL’ range covers, including Purchase Tax.
